Eightco’s $270m Worldcoin Treasury Bet Lands as WLD Nears Record Low
Eightco Holdings' plan to hold WLD as its main treasury reserve arrives as Worldcoin's token trades near an all-time low.

Eightco Holdings has said it intends to hold Worldcoin’s WLD token as its main treasury reserve after raising $270 million, a corporate commitment that arrives just as the token trades close to a record low. The disclosure marks one of the more notable institutional endorsements of the Sam Altman-linked identity project since its 2024 debut, even as WLD’s market price remains under sustained pressure.
As of 7 July 2026, WLD was changing hands at $0.3981, down 4.34% over 24 hours, according to data cited from CoinMarketCap. The token’s all-time high stands at $11.82, reached on 10 March 2024, while its all-time low of $0.2279 was set only 18 days earlier, on 18 May 2026. The current market capitalisation sits at roughly $1.44 billion, with 24-hour trading volume of about $211.11 million against a circulating supply of 3.51 billion WLD.
Adoption metrics grow even as price weakens
Worldcoin’s network has expanded to more than 100 countries, with the project reporting approximately 25 million users, including nearly 12 million verified through its biometric Orb hardware. That growth in verified identity uptake stands in contrast to the token’s price trajectory, which technical indicators currently describe as bearish.
A 14-day relative strength index reading of 44.35 sits in neutral territory, but the broader market backdrop is more downbeat: the Fear and Greed Index for WLD registers 24, in the “extreme fear” band, and green trading days have accounted for just 11 of the past 30, or 37%. The 50-day simple moving average of $0.4342 remains above the current price, reinforcing the near-term downward bias flagged by multiple moving-average signals.
Identity infrastructure advances alongside institutional interest
Development activity has continued despite the price weakness. Worldcoin has released an open-source GKR prover intended to enable private, on-device AI verification, while the project has also progressed to Phase 2 of its World ID Trusted Setup, a component of its privacy-focused identity architecture.
Binance has separately introduced a new WLD/U trading pair, and market participants have noted increased over-the-counter activity in the token, factors that have added to speculation over its near-term direction even as spot prices languish close to record lows.
A test case for corporate treasury exposure to identity tokens
Eightco’s decision to anchor a treasury strategy around WLD, following its $270 million capital raise, places the company in a similar position to other listed entities that have adopted digital-asset treasury models in recent years. Unlike bitcoin-focused treasury vehicles, however, WLD carries additional complexity tied to its biometric identity-verification model and its historically volatile trading pattern, having lost more than 96% of its value from its March 2024 peak.
For investors and analysts monitoring corporate crypto treasury strategies, Eightco’s move offers an early signal of how markets and, potentially, regulators may scrutinise firms that tie balance-sheet exposure to a token whose price has proven considerably more volatile than bitcoin or ether, even as its underlying identity-verification network continues to scale.
